It is the angle subtended by wrapping the radius around the circles circumference.

So Math.cos(90) would be wrong for 90 degrees...

you have to do


Math.cos(Math.toRadians(90));

even then you don't get an exact value of "0" but close to it as the conversion from degrees to radians is fairly accurate but not exact.
