Problem

All I want to do is zip up a directory under windows 7. I use the send to file context menu in the file manager. I have done this for years. Same computer. Same account. Worked every time.

For some reason it has stopped working this morning. Not sure what the culprit is.

I am able to search google and find the cause.

What changed?

Not sure. there are the usual updates of windows. There is the age of the computer. I installed google drive a while back. And picasa. May be or may be they are not related.

So what happened?

I am logging in as an admin. For some reason the temp folder permissions are taken out and the admin doesn't have the write permissions. So obviously the zip facility of windows is using this!

Where is the temp folder??

file manager

Adavanced system settings
Environment variables
User variables for user "admin"
Look for TEMP -> %userprofile%\appdata\local\temp

Give full permission to your login user

file manager
c:\users\admin\appdata\local\temp
right click
properties
security

if you don't see full control to the user then give that security and reboot
