A walk with out a Camera!

Around the time of Christmas it exploded in these blood-red berries. Sufficiently cold nights and bright days seem to only encourage the resplendence. There are a number of these trees every half a mile or so.

What can be so wrong when life is so plentiful and vibrant!

It was overcast. Cloudy. The LG phone has an awful camera with no sense of light. It shows shades of what is there. Assure you there are those same red berries ample. There is also a swarm of thrushes all on the tree. You can see a couple of them flying away. They are there in the tree as well just the camera is awful.

About 10,000 berries gone in an hour

See this video here what happened

Not sure why google+ has an ability to directly upload these videos. A pain to download 10MB and upload again!!!

Here is another video another tree

This tree is about 30 minutes walk from the first across a lake. On my way out this tree had no birds in it. It took another 30 minutes for me to walk back to this tree and you can in this video they managed to find this one too....

Here is the video. I couldn't see them at all but I hear them on this cloudy dampened day.

Across the lake I can't see them but I hear a whole bunch of them

Apparently the tree with red berries that glows around Christmas is called a Brazilian Pepper Tree

Apparently these red berries could give you an itch or result in nasty allergies as this tree is related to poison ivy and poison oak and has a strong desire to spread itself at the cost of native species. So much for the feel-good-ness.

Next year, if there are no mocking birds in East Hampton I now know why!
