To fight aloud, is very brave - But gallanter, I know Who charge within the bosom The Calvalry of Woe - Who win, and nations do not see - Who fall - and none observe - Whose dying eyes, no Country Regards with patriot love - We trust, in plumed procession For such, the Angels go - Rank after Rank, with even feet - And Uniforms of snow.

A Fuller Tune
I shall keep singing! Birds will pass me On their way to Yellower Climes? Each?with a Robin's expectation? I?with my Redbreast? And my Rhymes? Late?when I take my place in summer? But?I shall bring a fuller tune? Vespers?are sweeter than Matins?Signor? Morning?only the seed of Noon?

Book
There is no frigate like a book To take us lands away, Nor any coursers like a page Of prancing poetry. This traverse may the poorest take Without oppress of toll; How frugal is the chariot That bears a human soul!
A frigate is a fast ship. A courser is a fast horse.

"Unto Me?" I do not know you - Where may be your House? "I am Jesus - Late of Judea - Now-of Paradise" - Wagons-have you-to convey me? This is far from Thence- "Arms of Mine-sufficient Phaeton- Trust Omnipotence"- I am spotted-"I am Pardon"- I am small-"The Least Is esteemed in Heaven the Chiefest- Occupy my House"-

Woman and a wife
She rose to his requirement, dropped The playthings of her life To take the honorable work Of woman and of wife. If aught she missed in her new day Of amplitude, or awe, Or first prospective, or the gold In using wore away, It lay unmentioned, as the sea Develops pearl and weed, But only to himself is known The fathoms they abide.

We grow accustomed to the Dark
We grow accustomed to the Dark - When light is put away - As when the Neighbor holds the Lamp To witness her Goodbye - A Moment - We uncertain step For newness of the night - Then - fit our Vision to the Dark - And meet the Road - erect - And so of larger - Darknesses - Those Evenings of the Brain - When not a Moon disclose a sign - Or Star - come out - within - The Bravest - grope a little - And sometimes hit a Tree Directly in the Forehead - But as they learn to see - Either the Darkness alters - Or something in the sight Adjusts itself to Midnight - And Life steps almost straight.

A brief explanation
She is dense with intellect. Every time I figure out one of her poems it is a delight. They are not as abstract as they appear to the first sight. if not would they be delightful as a new bride!
This starts off with a neighbor seeing off lit by a night lamp. In stanza 2 as you walk away you will slowly adjust to the darkness. It took, my dull mind, substantial minutes to see the second stanza as a continuation of the first.
In the third she wonders how about our own brain not knowing directions in darkness and comparing in the same breath to the physical signs of darkness, the moon the star.
Then the physical and the mental are melded as one to say in life we get to learn or we adjust and to me, life teaches us, some times without choice.
Beautiful to the last drop!
