How come this doesn't work on github?

The download button in github doesn't work
Every project in github can be downloaded using the download button. However it doesn't seem to work which sent me off to look for all kind of tools and alternate aproaches to download that git package.
This is why I looked at gitweb to see if they have any standardized http commands that can be issued from a browser. I didn't have much success.
I am really reluctant to download and install the windows client for git and understand all the command line git commands. Perhaps I will do that some day.
Then as I was reporting the problem on Titanium irc, it was indicated that the button will indeed work. That told me perhaps ie and github combination is the problem.
So I downloaded firefox last night and pronto it worked. Firefox is pretty small and got installed very quick. A pleasant experience. Perhaps I will use it here and there. I do depend heavily on few "ie" features and hopefully I can find them.
